The Art of Tony Kranz

Photography and Printing for more than Forty Years

There are basically two types of people. People who accomplish things, and people who claim to have accomplished things. The first group is less crowded.

growing up blessed

encinitas is my home

Coastal California is well known for having some of the most beautiful scenery known to man. Growing up in Encinitas gave me the opportunity to experience what Jack London referred to as “the ozone laden-waters” of the Pacific Ocean, with many days of play along the shores of Moonlight Beach.

After exploring other parts of our country a bit, I ended up back home with my wife and three children. The city continued to grow from its roots as the “Flower Capital of the World” to the Beach Town and Bedroom Community that it is today.

I’ve had the opportunity to play a part in that growth, having served twelve years, from 2012–2024 on the City Council, the last two as mayor.

When I think back on all the crap I learned in high school...

Mentors Made Me

my first camera was an instamatic

My mom and dad gave me the gift of an Instamatic camera for Christmas when I was 10 or 11 years old. That was the planting of a seed that germinated in Junior High, when I took a photography class taught by Mr. Mike Edinger. A couple years later I was in the Yearbook class taught by Mrs. Gammage, who let my friend Tom Neely and I wander around campus almost every day shooting photographs of our friends.

Sports photography gave me the chance to see my pictures in the local newspaper and from there, a life-long pursuit of pictures took off.

Please enjoy the fruits of my labor over the many years. And if you’d like to have a portrait made or an event photographed, please contact me to discuss the details.

photos that reflect you

Your image

Whatever the occasion might be, marking it with great photos is something that you will never regret doing. If you’re interested in having a session of photography with me, please feel free to contact the studio for a conversation about where we can meet to make that perfect image.

“Our session of portrait photography with Tony was a great experience and the results reflect that.”
