Hello, my name is Tony Kranz and I would like to serve you as a member of the Encinitas City Council. I appreciate that you’re here at my website and I hope that I can earn your trust and your vote at the election this fall. I’ve written this brief biography to tell you a little about my background and I hope that you will use the CONTACT page so I can speak to you directly.
Family
Encinitas is my hometown. I moved here with my family in 1960, when my dad, Jerry Kranz, was hired to teach PE and coach at Earl Warren Junior High. My mom, Toni Kranz, was a Nurse Practitioner for several years until she died from cancer in 1990. Before she worked as a nurse, she stayed home with her seven kids, in order: Fred, Rose, Tony (me), Katie, Trudy, Peggy and Jim.
In 1985 I married the former Cynthia Blodgett, a Nurse Manager in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at White Memorial Hospital in Los Angeles. We have three children, all of whom attended San Dieguito Academy: James is 26, Brian is 24 and Stephanie is 21.
Education
I graduated from San Dieguito High School in 1977 and then attended Palomar Community College, studying printing and playing football at both schools. I continued studying printing at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, leaving school in 1981 to become a photographer.
Work
I am currently employed as an account representative for Consolidated Graphics, an international printing company. Most of my experience is in printing and photography, including working for Stewart’s Photo, the oldest camera shop in Anchorage, Alaska.
